Mmmmmmm! My dad was an amazing popcorn connoisseur and grew Japanese white hull less in the garden. We are corn heads too. I’ve been called queen of the pop!
I love this. I've lost my dad, too, four years ago tomorrow. Nothing takes the edge off the grief more than relatable anecdotes from other women who loved their dads. (My dad also had just three dishes in his cooking-for-the-kids repertoire: Pancakes, scrambled eggs, and Kraft Mac & Cheese.)
This scared up some happy memories of my own father, who made the best hot dog "sauce" (not chili). I would never, ever think to deviate from your dad's recipe. Thanks for putting a smile on my face - I wondered why my mouth was starting to hurt.
my dad made doctored ragu spaghetti with italian sausage or steak and baked potatoes when we were with him every other weekend and they were both a hit every time.
I was just thinking about summer sausage the other day. I think of it as a 1980's Meat, simply because I haven't had it or thought of it since I was a child in the 80's. tl;dr I want a summer sausage and mustard sandwich right now!!

Beautiful! And 3 new meals for me to try with the family!

I miss my dad too. It's been 5 years. A good dad is hard to lose. This was a lovely essay. <3

I love you lots, Lindy, but that sounds disgusting. 😂
