This is one of my favorite childhood movies and also I have had many of the thoughts you expressed in this piece so yes, I think it came across. We can question the things we love!
I swear to God that as soon as I saw this in my inbox I said -- out loud -- "oh, we're gonna get UNHINGED", and so thank you Lindy for giving us this gift
PS I don't know if I'm a bad person for chortling at the "USA when it’s time 2 solve gun violence" pic but I think I'm still a better person than most (all?) Republicans so it evens out I guess
This movie convinced me to go to law school in Oregon instead of San Diego. Weird to have such a consequential decision heavily influenced by an Arnold Schwarzenegger film. I liked your version of the better than the one I watched though.
“Arnold reads the book out loud and all the kids take a nap and it’s very sweet, but WHY DID ARNOLD ABANDON ALEX THOUGH??? Then Arnold falls asleep too and has a nightmare that Crisp slides up to the window on a conveyer belt and—sorry, he fell asleep while he was watching the children??? Is that what happened to Alex?”
Bravo!! Can I put in a request for Matrix or the Matrices? I have been watching Sense8 and it reconfirmed for me that we as a society are so far away from acceptance of folks who are fat. Like even the Wachoskis can’t conceive of a group that empathizes with a non-thin person. (Race, culture, creed, gender, etc are overcome as barriers to understanding other human beings, but you have to be traditionally hot…)
I feel like it didn't come across in this piece but I love this movie lol

It was on for 5 seasons?!?!
I swear I will get back to Kindergarten Cop...
I need you to do a Butt News for Sliders because I have never heard of that movie and that trailer was insane.
Wait. Sliders was a TV show?! It’s on Peacock! 🤯
Ok but in that still of Crisp talking to his mother, WHY does he look like Jim Carrey in a ponytail wig??!

I absolutely fucking adored this movie as a kid and my family does still quote it regularly, we are not role models
I fucking laughed:

I didn't know it until now but I share your Jimmy Butler fantasy
