Aw I’m so glad you did this one! 😂 This movie was So Important to 9 yr-old me, I loved it so much. I was obsessed with Robin Williams movies, and also I was 1000% in love with Rufio, the most gorgeous boy I had ever seen. I never thought too hard about the mechanics or the timelines and now I know why. 😂 Truly it makes not even an ounce of goddamn sense. Out of nostalgia I still have a VCR, and VHS tapes of the 10 movies that were the most important to me as a kid, that I watched literally hundreds of times (no cable and no video game consoles- we did what we had to do). You bet your ass that Hook is one of them. 😂🥰
I too was at a very formative time in my development when I watched this movie, and if I met a dyke today who looked like Rufio, I would marry her IMMEDIATELY.
pausing midway through reading just to comment on the most accurate description of Robin Williams as a “hirsute mailbox”. he would’ve loved that for sure 👌
Floored by the reveal that Jack is a Fed Soc lawyer. I recently watched this again with my 9 year old and was expecting to be so disappointed but honestly I still found it very entertaining. Also, when Dustin Hoffman gets those lifetime achievements awards, we better be treated to extended clips of Hook. The Graduate, Kramer vs Kramer and Rain Man might get all the glory, but no one else could have done this one, a performance for the ages!
I am into everything about this except your baffling question about why someone would want to blow bubbles in chocolate milk. Have you never experienced this sublime sensory delight? The viscosity/surface tension is just right and it's intensely satisfying. I think it's cuz they add guar gum or something.
I truly do not understand the appeal!!!!! For some reason it feels like... the chocolate milk would get dirty? I think this might be some issue with my brain.
That was a delight! So much research- damn girl, honestly had no idea one of my FAVE kid movies had such dark origins, " not kick ass" ooof! Wanna read it again cause I cackled too much to savor. Don't you dare try to stop me Smeeee! Omg.
Watched this recently too not expecting it to hold up. Color me surprised when I literally teared up when Peter gives his speech for granny Wendy and says to the crowd “I guess we do have something in common- we’re orphans.”
Crosby got his stills nashed BY THE YOUNG-- not sorry at all
Had to stop reading and take a beat to process that the child actor who played Jack turned into a right wing lawyerNOOOoooo!! 😆😭🫣
But has anyone done Hook burlesque and/or a drag show….cuz I would definitely pay money that
But there's already Our Flag Means Death (I say that as a fan).
Very true…I’m so sad that show was canceled 😭😭😭
Me too!

Was one of them Free Willy? Mrs. Doubtfire?
I never actually saw Free Willy! I don’t know how that one snuck past me…
Yes and same to all! But now I'm dying to know what the other 9 VHS tapes are! Please do share. 🤩
I had:
-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (live action)
-Fern Gully (remains my favorite animated movie of all time)
-Hook
-Jumanji
-The Bodyguard (what kind of 12-year-old was obsessed with Kevin Costner whilst he was in his 30s? This guy.)
-The Terminator (I had to hide this one between my mattresses.)
-The Little Mermaid (in the original case, before they took the penis tower off the cover)
-The Land Before Time
-Aladdin
-The Sword in the Stone
-Sleeping Beauty
-The Boy Who Could Fly
So I guess I had about 12, apologies, I was estimating lol
I would read another 10k words on Hook by Lindy

Thud Butt???? His name is Thud Butt?? How did I not know this
How did you not know? My siblings and I have called each other this since 1991 and it shows no signs of being retired as we all age into our 40s.

Excellent form, Lindy!
After a long day of protesting the horrific current events, I really, really needed these belly laughs 😂You never miss 🫶🏻 Thank you 💔🇵🇸✊🏻🍉
Lindy, I love your review, but the heterosexual pirates et al are confusing and sort of creepy.
Everything about it is confusing and creepy to be sure
Watched this recently too not expecting it to hold up. Color me surprised when I literally teared up when Peter gives his speech for granny Wendy and says to the crowd “I guess we do have something in common- we’re orphans.”
what a fever dream!!
