I've never before wanted to make my own granola, but I sure do have a bunch of random nuts and seeds and dried fruits and sweeteners sitting around, and I even have miso, so by gosh you've convinced me. Please write and post more recipes!

Your recipe for Valentine's Day Sex Granola is a game-changer! Honestly, it's not just a recipe; it's a call to arms against overpriced store-bought granola and a manifesto for kitchen creativity. Your approach to making granola, and perhaps to life in general, is a delightful blend of creativity, humor, and practicality. It makes me want to raid my pantry and start mixing, not just for the sake of delicious granola, but for the pure joy of making something wonderful out of the overlooked and underestimated.

If only all recipes were 81 pages long and gave so few shits about how the foodstuff actually turns out for us. Lindy West, you've done it again. I love you. ❤️

CAN I SUBSTITUTE BEANS FOR THE OATS AND EGG WHITES FOR THE OIL AND LEAVE OUT THE SWEETENERS? Jk, iykyk. Can’t wait to try this - miso sounds perfect. And I third the request for a Lindy West cookbook.

MSG and miso is such a hot tip for granola! Never tried before, now must. Also, "squirty bear" is the official name moving forward.

The same thing happened to me with my laptop. Just get an external mouse and you’re golden! Also when I spilled the tea, for some reason I filled the laptop over on top of an extra bed pillow to absorb the tea (cuz I didn’t have a bag of rice big enough) and that seemed to work. That Mac is still kicking 6 years later!

Miso is amazing in a staggering amount of things. I regularly marinate my boiled eggs in miso. I have a miso-peanut butter cookie recipe that is TO DIE FOR.*

*It's from the NYT Cooking website, so can be found by all.

As I read this I am on my morning tea break, eating homemade granola with (store-bought) yogurt out of an old vegemite container. I love a home made granola - my favourite one I like to slap with the label 'lamington' because I add cocoa and desiccated coconut and have it with some berry yogurt. Love this, and I am so looking forward to using the miso from the very back of the fridge in my next batch.
