Thank you thank you thank you. As someone who routinely laughs hysterically at the *memory* of a passage from Shrill, I am so glad to have more of your writing to enjoy on a weekly basis.
Lindy, I am delighted to be receiving this newsletter, and Sleepless in Seattle is a bomb first pick. I love it from childhood and am ready to rewatch it with all the knowledge of my thirty six years as a woman on this godforsaken planet.
Lindy, your writing was one of the only things that made me laugh during my chemotherapy treatment: no matter how horrible I felt, your wit cut through my pain like a knife. Your Galadriel based humor (among other things) made me forget everything going around me, if only for a little while. I love your work and I am so excited to read more of it here!
As someone who has lived in Seattle for 7 years and hasn’t ever seen Sleepless in Seattle, but has nodded along as people mention it in conversations about the city I call home, thank you Lindy!! I’ve never had a reason to watch it but now I do!! Thank goodness for ButtNews!!
Bissel Spot Clean ProHeat Portable Spot and Stain Carpet Cleaner…works miraculously for dog fluids on couches. I don’t know why I put off buying one for so long…😉
I haven't laughed so hard I cried until I couldn't see and had to stop because I was starting to struggle to breathe in a long long time. Missed you, Lindy.
I’m so glad you’re doing this!! I got to see you speak a few years back and it was kismet as I had found your book Shrill on the street. I have been a devoted fan ever since and look forward to reading more of Butt News as well as the movie dissection!
I literally just told my husband I wanted to watch Sleepless in Seattle. Two reasons: he and I were talking about the bachelorette and I used the phrase MFEO; and Ted Lasso’s new character is named Dr. Sharon Fieldstone, which made me think of Dr. Marcia Fieldstone, the radio host Jonah calls to find his dad love. So psyched this is the first movie!
I have to tell you I've been following you since you wrote for Jezebel and am thrilled you have started this newsletter. I'm forcing my best friend to sign up - I also gave her your book for Christmas so she better. Thanks for being you!!!!
my daughter watched SIS like 5 times over the pandemic. i listened to it from the other room and was shocked by how much dialogue i remembered. also, when i saw meg ryan's hair, i remembered that all i wanted was to have that mane and be able to do a messy braid down my back.
Can we all get tattoos that say, "Please Don't Explain Things To Me!"?
Sure. Seriously OK!
um hell yeah. i'm in.
