PBS.org has seasons 14, 16, and 19-25 of the antiques roadshow and it only costs $60/yr to support your local public radio station and get access to PBS Passport. Also includes access to the ultimate comfort watch, All Creatures Great and Small (both the original and the reboot).

Then you can also watch Lawrence Welk, like my grandma did and my parents now do, and be soothed by the dulcet tones and period costumes.

As a Brit who grew up watching the Antiques Roadshow at 6.45pm every Sunday, I can testify to its mollifying qualities, which were almost enough to make the dreaded approach of Monday bearable. Like most of the BBC’s output on Sunday evening, it’s a kind of posh opium of the masses. And the theme tune alone is enough to give me Proustian reminiscences of hot crumpets and Victoria sponge cake for Sunday tea. Now there’s a guy on Twitter who runs an AR drinking game: one shot for every sight of a Panama hat, a handlebar moustache or someone saying ‘But of course, we’d never sell it’.

Also I’m literally taking a break from knitting to read this blog post so I wish I also had a celebrity knitting bestie ^.^

not to completely hijack this post but I am similarly bereft that the Great Pottery Throw Down, a beautifully perfect show, season 4, apparently will never show up on Hbo which is now Max which is the platform they made significantly worse in every way. Considering moving to the UK just to watch season 4

Just saying, if you ever need money to sustain yourself during the strike, I personally - and am sure many others - would pay a serious amount of it just for the chance to talk to you on the phone for 30 minutes 😍
